Replaced Steering Rack

Well, I wound up going to http://www.car-part.com and getting a 1997 Z3 1.9L rack (2.7 ratio) for $220 shipped.  It has 105k miles on it, and the guy assured me it was leakless.  Apparently they usually don't sell the racks, but rather send them out for rebuilding & then sell them.  He He said they only sell one if it has no leaks whatsoever.  For $220, who cares.

Stuck (Jordan) said that rebuilding them is a real PITA, and damn near impossible.  Anyone tried it before?  Now I have one to practice on lol.

Is it possible to sell my rebuildable core to some rebuilder for a core-price?  It would seem like rebuilders would be receptive to this since they still make $ off of it.
