Well even though I never formally introduced myself here at M42club with a proper member profile thread , I'm sure lots of you know who I am from other boards over the years .

For those of you that don't, here is a quick rundown of how/why I ended up on M42club :

After having owned a virtual slew of 6cyl E30's (and one lowly M10 early on) over the years I happened upon a 318is that seemed like a good buy into the twin-cam E30 game .

Basically bought this beat beater back in Dec 06 for a fairly low price :

Overall condition was fair , had a few issues like popping out of all forward gears, few bumps and scrapes and tons of vacuum leaks .

Got it looking like this in a few short weeks :

Then shortly after I pulled a bitch move and did this :

Wasn't really totally due to me , just fell victim to a nasty ice storm but I should have been more alert to other drivers out there .
I was more upset by the jacked Kinesis than anything else .

Got it looking like this later the same day :

Just slapped on another Alpine hood, bumper and fender , no valance .

Eventually did a few other things like manual window conversion and a few suspension changes but never did any more cosmetically .

Then comes along "pwforprez" looking for a car in our state .
So we struck a mutually beneficial deal and he ended up with my 318is looking like this :

Stock with the exception of the manual windows, a few brake upgrades and the BBS RA's .
It definitely went to a good home and he is happy as can be ....as seen HERE .

But alas this thread is to welcome my newest E30 into the M42club family .

And here she is :
Alpine Weiss 1991 M42 318i sedan .

No ft lip, no fog blanks but hey ....she's clean .
Nice, straight and clean overall, really no dings, complete with 5 steelies, 4 hubcaps and 4 new tires .

Although the trunk has been painted somewhere along its life, probably early on .
Not the best quality materials as the paint is totally cracked up at this point :

Blue cloth interior :

The ft seats have seen better days as the cloth is ripped in a few areas .
I'll either swap in sports or get these recovered down the road.
No good pic of the back seat but its mint.

Oh yeah ...was able to gather this up in my first once over in the interior :

Score !
Hey thats over $2 . :D

No sunroof option :

In my book this is good.

Motor probably has not had any maintenance in recent years :

But at least there are no running issues.

Basically a nice clean car and was woman owned for the majority of its life .
I'm happy with what I gave for it seeing as how it was less than my last 318is and that one was a steal .

Oh yeah and one last thing , heres the passengers side :

Don't get too worked up just yet.
Its merely the doors and the rocker , hell I already have the doors.
Having the doors is what really made me go for this sedan , figured I can replace the rocker, paint the doors and trunk and be set for a while .

I'll update as it progresses .

PS: I've got my M42club shirt , where the hell is yours ?

:D

Haha , don't worry homeboy the other car(s) are getting taken care of . ;)
I don't mind the 4-doors , been looking for one for a little while .
The ding will get handles soon enough too , I'll be sure and post the progress here .

Good to know . :D
Now that I see what clean sedans are going for I'm leaning more towards just keeping it auto-xing it or whatever as opposed to selling it .
But we'll see , maybe in the least fix it and see if there is any interest in it out there .

Teaguer,
Really nice looking alpine.  ICE?  Where the hell does that come from in Texas?  I am amazed at the dent in the morning and gone the same day.  I really like the silver mesh rims.  Where did they come from?

Dude, that's my car 3 years ago, except for the passenger side.  4 doors have more structural rigidity :D:D:D:D

Isn't the rocker panel part of the unibody?  How do you replace that?

Thanks , yeah I guess we can blame elNino , global warming or whatever but the weather has been jacked up the last few years or so .

Being able to get it looking decent again the same day is one advantage of having multiple E30's around to rob/borrow parts off of .

Wheels are Kinesis K27's in a 17X8.5 size .
Custom made in America 3-piece forged wheels .  ($$$$)

Werd on the structural integrity , I'm balling out of control with the no sunroof too .  :D

How do you replace quarter panels, roof panels, rear body panels or any real panels on a unit-body then ?

Pull it back square , cut out the offending panel and weld in a replacement .
I run a body shop , this will be cake .  ;)

Dude, you should do some serious shaving.  Shave door locks, antenna, wiper nozzles, I dunno what else.  That's what I'd be doing if I had a body shop ;)
