wiper problems
« on: September 19, 2007, 10:42:14 PM »
im having a helluva time getting my old wiper motor out seriously i spent hours trying to do it with no luck. i took out the blower motor for the ac and stuff also its cover n stuff... im getting sick of it any help would be good, also tried to undo the bolts and nut on the bottom of wiper motor to separate but one is blocked and the linkage would not come off. i took the wiper motor from my parts car but i pried the body out of the way cause i didn't really care.

I had to remove the wiper motor from the linkage to get it out on my car. I did the same thing on my parts car (bent the body out of the way) - your only other option, AFAIK, is to remove the heater box, which is a huge PITA in and of itself.

Sorry - I also spent a LONG time trying to remove the wiper and linkage as one unit, and was unable to do so.

Well, you definitely have to remove both the blower motor and the case it is in.

The heater box I am talking about is the part under that, the huge box that sits on the transmission tunnel under the dash that contains all the heating/cooling stuff in the car - heater core, evaporator, the controls, ducting, etc. You'd have to remove the dash, drain the coolant, and evacuate the AC system to get it out.

I doubt that removing that would gain you much more than an inch or so of room, but I think it would be enough to pull the wiper linkage and motor together. I can't see how the heck they would fit out otherwise.

I was half-kidding when I said that - your best bet is still to separate the motor from the linkage and pull them out separately.

Don't know if this is accurate but it looks pretty easy if you remove linkage from motor. Complete manual here:

Right, and this is how I did it.

The Bentley, however, says you can pull the whole shootin' match at once, which I have not found to be the case in two different cars.

well after some thinking and some carfully followed instructions from my grandfather i was able to pull the wiper motor out.. get the new one in and reused the old linkage. all i have to do now is line it up so they wipe correctly.. im happy again
