Centerforce/SBC/Sachs clutch questions
« on: September 18, 2007, 12:20:48 PM »
Hi guys,

I lost my camera a few weeks ago, so no pics as of yet. But I have a question regarding clutches. First, a stock clutch with reasonable driving (whats reasonable for us M42 nuts huh?) should last how long (90, 100, 150k)? I don't know. I'm an idiot when it comes to clutches. (If there are any that know me in here, don't say what you might want to say about that last sentence).

I've been looking for new clutches. I've got about 190k and my release and catch point is getting closer to the top of my pedal. I was originally looking at the BMP design Sachs clutch (includes everything... T/O and pilot bearing) for 259 :D. Centerforce only has the pressure plate and clutch disk for 383 (Summit Racing has the Centerforce for 338). Centerforce says they've never had a disk or pressure plate returned for premature failure. I saw the thread dealing with South Bend clutches (SBC)...  and the dealer says Centerforce has those problems. I don't know anything about SBC other than the thread posted last December.

Any help in direction would be great:o.
