Now I'm pissed.

Started on the headliner today, which, for those who weren't aware, involves removing all of the glass except in the doors.

Had the windshield replaced last year by Safelite of Annapolis, mostly because I didn't have the lockstrip tool at the time and it was a bit chilly out, so I was lazy. Guy arrives, I open the car, go inside the house. Come back out when he is almost done. Looks good, I pay the cash to him.

Fast forward to today.

Turns out he used adhesive, not only sealing the glass into the seal, but sealing the seal onto the body. The five-minute windshield removal has now run over an hour, and I still have to remove all the rest of the sealant from the body so the new seal will actually seal. AND he sealed over both drain holes - no rust, but if I hadn't had to pull the glass, I wouldn't have known about it and could potentially have had some serious rust issues down the road.

And the windshield is cracked all to shit. Fortunately (I guess) it was already cracked and needed to be replaced, but still...

And I cut my thumb on a shard of glass.

For those who are curious, lighter fluid (naphtha) works wonderfully well at dissolving the silicone crap they seal windshields onto cars with.

That only took two hours...

Try with some paint thinner or some gas. I think they're cheaper than lighter fluid.

Well, I wouldn't want to use paint thinner - it is painted, after all!  :)

It's only a dollar for a can of lighter fluid, and you really only need a bit. It dissolves the silicone quickly!
