CD43 head unit

Ok , so I'm seriously considering swapping in a CD43 head unit from an E36, but I came across comments about it not having "real" line out connections.  What does this mean?  Can you not run a legit external amplifier from it?

Febi Guibo, what's your setup?

You cannot run an amp that uses line level input(rca cables). You'll have to run a simple speaker level input, so your volume will control the gain. As long as you hook it up right it'll make the system "louder" with good speakers. But if you want the whole custom soundfield and all that you're up the creek.

With my budget, "louder" is as good as it gets.
