Question about installation
« on: August 25, 2007, 04:57:41 PM »
So I finally got all the parts in for my new suspension on my 91 318is. Blistein Sport Shocks with Ireland Engineering Stage 3 Springs. I managed to get everything of the car without any problems, but when I went to put the shock and spring assembly back together the spring seems to be about an inch shorter than the top of the shock.

With shock mount and everything put back together the spring is not held in really at all. So I guess I'm wondering if there is something I'm missing as far as installing them. I've seen pictures of many E30's with this shock/spring combo so I figure there is probably something I'm missing.

Any help would be great.

the spring is going to flop around on the front when there isn't any weight on it.  Its because those springs are shorter than the stock ones.

Aslong as the top plate is completly bolted to the shock there shouldn't be any problems. The IE Stage 3 are pretty short and they are loss a bit when they dont have the weight of the car on them.

Lowered it down and it seems to be doing fine, certainly looks a whole lot better now :).
