M20 exhaust on the e30 m42?
« on: August 12, 2007, 02:34:37 PM »
How hard would this be? For some time I have been looking for an exhaust. Supersprint is great, but it is expensive for a non-stainless system. Many companies offer SS exhausts for the M20. I was wondering how similar the header/manifold outlets are and what would need to be done to get this to fit.

BTW would this even sound decent? 2-cyl per pipe instead of 3?

No, I think that they are aluminamized and then high-temp powder coated. Stainless exhausts are shiny, because paint won't stick well to stainless things.

Hate to bring up an old thread but I'm wondering about this as well. I currently have a 1988 325is for which I bought a Remus SS cat back. Well the car has 220k miles and is getting quite rusty so I've decided to retire it. I've been contemplating getting a 318is and am wondering if anyone has done or ever even heard of putting an m20 cat back on an m42.

If you think about it, it doesn't sound too hard. Make some sort of Y connection and it should work...

That is just me thinking logically.
