here she is! mmm 2.1. sadly the CR will be a little under the 11:1 i was after, but I reckon i'll skim the head to make it close this. its safer this way for street use anyway.  not sure if i'll need another dowel on the deck, will probably get one.
Otherwise its looking great.

and a cheeky random pic which i like cos of that most rare of beasts a white ABY 6 speed S2 and the bonnet up on my iS - this was just an ITB trial fitting session:

things are looking good at the mo, i've just overcome my megasquirt problems so its successfully working for both fuel and spark and have the engine ready to drop in...

Looks tremendous!!

Did you use the crank from the M47?
Are those S50 pistons?

Can we all partake in the info sharing? That way we can start hunting down parts early on

Oh god...  That S2 coupe rocks!  Who's is it?

I'm still an Audi geek too!  I had a urS4 and a urS6 Avant.  That motor KICKS ASS.  When we can figure out how to put a 20V 5cyl turbo in the 318is, we'll have the best motor and car combo!  Hahaha.

Those motors will crank 25 lbs of boost all day long without doing anything to the motor.  Just bolt RS2 goodies and software.  Very well built.  Remind me again how the AAN and and the ABY are different.  Did the ABY still have a distributor?  A friend of mine built a 400hp 20V turbo Ur-Quattro.  Now that thing is plain sick!!!

yeah that S2 is so cool. sadly not mine, i nearly bought it a yr or so ago though! its a friend's. i'll quickly tell you about this motor. the ABY puts out a bit more power than the 3B (the early S2s had the 3B, which is similar to an AAN), the ABY has the AAN's COPs and overboost protection. the 3B still runs a dizzy. that particular car is pretty rare cos the ABYs are rare enough as it is, but the pearlescent white colour makes it even more rare - i think in the UK you can count the number of these on one hand. since my friend's ownership, he's been patiently getting her ready for more power, at 10 years+ old there's plenty they need aside from tuning. he's samco'd everything (nearly £500!), runs porsche 993 (?) front brakes and S8 disks, runs koni shocks and eibach (iirc!) ARBs. now that the engine is on song (its had quite a few new parts - little things like lambda probe, thermostat, ultrasonically cleaned injectors etc which are difficult to diagnose but if not on song cause power loss), with a few tweeks its putting out 250hp, but its the torque figure of nearly 300ft/lbs thats more impressive, and there's plenty more to come with a remap and newer turbo. turbos have developed quite some way since the S2, so there's potential for more boost while still spooling just as easily. its a win-win situation! these are pretty complicated cars, and i'm impressed how through his maintenence jobs he's managed to release a lot of power from the engine. kinda serves as a reminder to us all!

its nowhere near a ur-quattro, but i do like it. on the other side of the coin, the driveline losses are huge on the rollers, fuel economy is not great, and the car weighs a tonne. handles very impressively though, in a no-nonsense kind of way! most impressive how little fuss it makes, it can humble much more exotic machinery while still remaining quiet, while other cars would be screaming and wailing.

Audi's suck. they are the biggest pieces of shit i have ever driven. I work on them at work, those new A6 twin turbo V6's are slow and at 60K the motor has to be removed and resealed and both turbos replaced, oh and i dont think a new audi can last 30K before they start leakink like a siff. I used to own a '90 coupe......biggest nightmare it had the 20V 5 cyl. in it. Everytime i would fix something, something else would break. Not to metion the shit engineering that went into (hydralic brakes, exaust system, transmision, door panels.......and the whole car). Seriously though dont buy a new Audi.....they suck. We have many disapointed customers that own them.
not to metion ALL new audi's take 8-9 hours to replace the timing belt (this is the time it takes a seasoned tech.)

Sorry for jacking your post im just ranting, i really do hate Audi's

ouch! lol! must admit i find that quite surprising. have more experience with early 90s audis, they're supposed to be bullet-proof. surprised you had so much trouble with your 20v, most people get on really well with those.

-brake hydraulics are by the same manufacturer as bmw, so if you're gonna say that an audi has terrible brake hydraulics, you're gonna have to tar bmw with the same brush. did oyu have a normal servo or a hydraulic booster? the hydraulic boosters are cool, and used in higher model bmws (7 series).
-as for transmission, same brand again. 7A 20v quattros shared getrag transmissinon with the 3B s2 (230bhp or so turbo - though people run way more power than that through them). to say the transmission is strong would be an understatement. the fwd VAG gearboxes from my experience have been very decent too. the S2 transmission and driveline seems to be fantastic, 150,000 miles in my friends, and if you can find a BMW diff was a quite as his are i'd be quite surprised (and he has twice as many to make noise!)!
-door panels, well i'm surprised at that too as the audi interior in that S2 is better put together than my e30. a bit over-engineered imo.

i'm not the biggest audi fan, but i wouldn't call their engineering shit.
i'd also be concerned that you're a bmw driver and calling audis the biggest pieces of shit you've ever driven, when they share so many parts.

fwiw that S2 (which is essentially a turbo 20v 7A) is putting out 250bhp and nearly 300ft/lbs (more than factory quoted figures) with 150,000 miles on the clock. it sounds brand new and has never had any kind of failure of any description in his ownership (about 3 yrs). feels brand new, doesn't use any oil or smoke etc, which after that kind of mileage and age, is stunning. people run them for crazy mileages, which for a turbo car is v impressive. i'd like to see some jap-crap of the same age pulling the same sort of figures with those miles on it

ok, ok i went a little overbaord. I dont really have much experience W/ the older Audi's (except the one i owned).....mostly the new ones (wich i have to tell you, for the price they charge im not impressed)..
-the tranny was ok, i rebuilt the shift linkage and it was still sloppy on mine.
-the hydralic brakeing system did not have as good as a feel as the BMW 7 or 6 series (my mom has one). although i have to admit i didnt really have any problems with it.
-i dont know how similar the interior is on you S2 but that is one thingh i hate about Audi's, my coupe had the worst ever designed interior. the door panel takes 1/2 hour to get off and the window regulatotrs break all the time ......especially on the newer Audi's (break ALOT on new bmw's to)

Audi does have one thing going for them though: they handle EXCELLENT in the snow! But i dont think i could own one, id get sick of the "check engine" light coming on, on a daily basis.

I don't know how to react to this, other than to say you obviously don't know what the hell you're talking about!!!

Oh yeah... Audis suck.  How many consecutive World Rally Championships did they win?  You live in ski country, you should know better.

That they build good rally cars doesnt mean their production stuff is high quality..

This thread has been hijacked.  Lets get back to the discussion on tims car.

thought i'd post here rather than start a new thread.
been on some rollers today with the standardish 1.8 engine and MS. the owner of the garage has a couple of e30 m3s including a black UK supplied sport evo in immaculate condition.

here's some pics (of mine and not the sport evo sadly!):

the figures were 107atw in 4th on standard fuelling, 112 atw in 3rd standard fuelling.
bit disappointing, was hoping for a bit more, but its not too bad. hasn't any major mods so its ok. these rollers give very 'real' figures too, it was pertty warm in there and there was no air blowing towards the inlet so i reckon the figures could have been higher with more favourable conditions. but that wasn't really the point of the exercise today anyway.

changing fuelling to MS got about 4/5rwhp just about all over the revs with by richening out the AFRs at more or less all WOT sites.

unfortunately using MS to do sparks is not working at all. seems ok on a timing light, but is running like shit and dropping away, backfiring etc. all 4 are firing though. very odd. seem to have a lot of missfires. time for an MS expert to look at it! am sad that i'm still having trouble with the sparks, its been nothing but trouble, and cost me soo much money today wasting time on the dyno trying to get it to spark, i'm very annoyed with it.
