Hey everyone I dont know if I ever posted a Newbie thread when I first registered but as you can see from my username My name is Sheldon and Im new to BMW's :D

I just recently picked up a '91 318is I cant recall the german name for the paint color but its that gunmetalish charcoal. It has approx 128k miles and plenty of service records from previous owner. Engine has NO problems what so ever (at least yet) and the body is pretty straight (aside from small amount of surface rust on the rear end of the driverside rocker panel (being taken car of ASAP). The interior is super clean with a perfect dash and tan leather although there are small cracks but no tears in the driver seat. All in all I got this for a steal due to the guy BADLY needing money so Im very pleased.

So far I absolutely love the car but have no pictures yet other than what I saw from the previous owner. Ive had it for about 2 and a half weeks and I just bought my first mod thanks to MarkD which is a 93 octane chip. I'll take more pics this weekend but just thought I would officially say hi as I like this site :)

No the oil on the concrete is NOT from this car. I made sure of it!

That is just dirt behind the front tire

Next up is suspension and some wheels...along with a little aesthetic upgrades! Still trying to figure out whether to repaint same color or Do a Cosmos Black?

Thanks...yea I really want to get the body in perfect condition but its so hard to pull myself to put money to aesthetics before performance! I really need the back bumper trim piece and to pop out two little itty bitty dings on the passenger side and a nipple sized hail ding on the roof and the body will look near flawless...just needs repaint...and the ugly pinstriping gone.

Oh and I just installed my MarkD 93 octane chip today and LOVE it!:D

Diamondschwarz metallic is the answer you're looking for, and if you do repaint, keep it. That's definitely one of my favorite looking e30 colors. First mod as always should be suspension. You'll never be able to comprehend how you drove without it and it generally isn't "too" pricey of a swap. Wilkommen!

Thanks man! Yea I imagine if I were to clean it up and get all the minor imperfections out, clay bar it, wax it, and stuff the paint would look really nice. I wonder how much the original paint would cost from BMW.

Yea Ive already put the 93 octane MarKd chip in so suspension wont technically be my first mod..but it is definitely my next ;) Ive been shopping around for H&R race springs and bilstein sport shocks as I really want a stiff ride...I can most likely get that setup for under 800$ shipped too which isnt bad.

I'll make sure and keep everyone updated on my mods:D

hahah..Okay you are very right! Its just a normal sized hail ding, kinda looks like someone took a pen and jabbed it at the roof. Its not big at all:D

well I just found out the wheels I were going to get arent being sold at tunershop anymore and I cant find any other sites that sell them:(
I sure hope to get suspension within this month or the beginning of the next!

Praise Jesus you didn't jump on the Sportmax bandwagon. While I'll admit they do look "decent" you pay for what you get.

haha! Yeaaaaaaa....NO! lol I honestly would only buy sportmax wheels if they were super light and I was using them for track use...but they arent super light, just cheap.

hopefully by the time Im in the market for wheels someone will be selling their set of cr7's...or tunershop will start carrying them again. I dont know if you've ever seen cr7 shadows but here is what I was wanting...

Having seen both on a schwarz e30, the normal ones look better. The shadows just don't look right on the car imo. Sorry, no pics...

yea I was wondering if it would look funny...I thought it would be REALLY cool to get the normal ones and then take them to get the spokes and centers painted diamondschwarz metallic like the car...but maybe thats a little overkill.

I'll probably just go for the normal ones.

thanks for the input though:)

Awful nice car to start with, you even have an unbusted valence...but you have no fogs, yet that interior pic shows you have a button for fogs?

Or am I crazy? Really nice camera too, those pics are awesome. Its a great platform man!
