Flaky Blower issue (not resistor)
« on: July 13, 2007, 04:15:26 PM »
Unlike some of the threads I have read my blower issues are different. The blower either works 100% or doesn't at all. When it works the switch will work on all 4 switch settings. I have checked the fuse box and even the resistor - alls well there. In the last 3 days it hasn't worked at all.

My next step is probably to replace the blower switch.

Question:
a. How do I remove/replace the switch ?

b. Is there a way to test if it's the switch or the blower motor ?

I'm not electrically savy.  Please be as detailed as possible.  Thanks.

Ive got/had(hasnt done it in months) a similar problem with my car.  The previous owner told me the blower motor needed replacing. I put in a known working resistor I had which I cleaned and coated with CRC(Like WD-40) then stuck it in. Its worked perfectly ever since. I sprayed a little CRC on the motor itself too, my guess is thats what made it work. Maybe try that let it dry good before you turn turn the blower on though.

Flacky BLower - Resistor connection issue (cont'd)
« Reply #3 on: July 17, 2007, 09:35:56 PM »
I removed the resistor and everything on the resistor look fine.  Volt meter readings are within appropriate limits.  When I re-seat the resistor the blower starts functioning again.  As a re-assemble everything the blower stop working.  WHen I re-seat the resistor things work again for a short period.  My guess is that the resistor is somehow getting loose and loosing it's connection to the blower motor.

Has anyone seen this issue ?  Any suggestions.

I am considering using a glue like Loctite but I'm unsure if Loctite is an electrical conductor.

Am I looking at replacing the blower motor ?
