A/C Compressor differences between E30s?
« on: July 12, 2007, 04:04:03 PM »
I'm collecting the pieces to get a working r134a a/c system in my car. I came upon an A/C compressor from a 1990 325i. It's a Nippon Denso unit. Will it fit correctly on the M42?

I have to get new lines anyway, so it isn't a big deal if the stock lines wont fit. I just want to make sure it will bolt to the engine and the electrical connections will work.

Thanks

I just pulled a Denso unit off of my parts car, so if it is the same model, I would imagine it would fit.

Would a compressor and bracket work from a newer 1.9? I would assume it is a bit more efficent but I have never checked. Just a thought.

R-134 is less efficient (if we are talking about how cold the a/c system gets).

I know that 134 doesnt cool as good thats why I am still rocking the R-12. Screw a retrofit. I was just thinking about drag from the compressor, I know that a good deal of other car systems have improved in drag through the years.

Agreed. R-134 sucks in my opinion.
