What's the process in changing the starter gear as I am looking to do this conversion soon?
Well, first you need both starters (m20 and m42).
First and foremost, LABEL the starters so that you don't mix anything up.There's two 8mm (i think) nuts that hold the major portion of the starter together.
After you've taken those off, you have to remove 3 Phillips screws that hold in the actuator fork for the gear. After you've completed that, there's a circlip that hold the gear from sliding out. You must heat this part up and then get like a 13mm deep socket and pound down the metal ring so that you can take the ring off.
Repeat the same process for the other starter.
Swap the gear from the m20 and slide it onto the m42 piece.
Just work backwards and you should be fine.
I wish I had taken pics, but I can snap some of pics of the assembly if you'd like.
