tonight my little 318is e36 beat a e21 323i with slick tyres and bucket seats i cant beleve that my e36 pass over 143hp 6cyl with 400kg less

Here is video I took where I pass E21 323 on track. I think it was 323 because of dual exhaust pipes on corners and I could not catch the car on straights. I don't have original high res video here so I cannot check.

You can tell the 15 years of progress in video... E21 looks like a milkfloat with bicycle tires! In fact, I think I had about twice the amount of rubber on road and far stiffer and lower suspension too

E31 were quite notorious for "lively" rear so I would take corners easy too with car like that...
