After doing some digging, it turns out ST also makes springs specifically for the 318i cabrio (p/n 65267). ST claims a 1.4" drop, and I've had good results with STs on an E9 and a 2002. I just ordered a set from shox.com for $189, though I had to give them ST's part number (over the phone).
