Bjorno's 318is
« on: June 03, 2007, 12:56:16 PM »
Hey I'm Bjorn and I'm from Belgium.
I'm a real E30 fan and my first E30 was a 318is.
That car was standing at work with a broken engine. (176.000km's)
After a year I bought the car and I repeared the engine.

This was the car:

He had a Racing dynamics kit (except the front bumper) And a racing dynamics steering wheel, gearshift and wood on the dashboard.
But I didn't liked the racing dynamics kit so removed it.
Options on the car:
- Electric windows
- Electric sunroof
- Electric antenne
- ABS
- Servo
- Black leather sport interior with rear arm rest
- Mirror with headlights
- On Board computer (12 buttons)
- BMW Sound System

So alot of options.
I repeared everything that wasn't good any more.
Spend arround 2000 euro's in the engine so you can imagne the engine was like new.
I also put on new brakes, tyres and every rubber on the suspension that wasn't good any more.
I drove a year with the car (20.000km's) with no problem's.
Had so mutch fun with the car but the insurance was to expensive so I had to sell it.

Then I bought a 318i convertible that I still have now. (103.000km's)
Lot of cruisin fun but always looked for the IS feeling. And feld bad that I sold the car.

This year I bought in januari a 320is that will be repeared just like new and will be my favorit car (allready is).
But I wanted also a car for fun an to take on the racing circuit's.
So I searched again for a 318is.

And I foud one for 400 euro's, perfect for circuit.
In bad chape but the engine still run's fine (286.000km's:eek: )

Engine still good

Just one big problem is that the car had a sunroof.
Then I found another 318is in Alpinewhite (168.000km's)with no options at all except front light wipers. And no sunroof.

Bouhgt that car and I'm working on the car now to make it my racer:

Interior (not even sport seats)

The engine:

I think he may have meant the mini inline 6 by "320is"

I could be wrong though, and if I am...what a rare car to have owned.

The 320is was a 2ltr S14 powered E30 sold mainly in Italy and Portugal to get around the tax thing for over 2 ltr cars.

This meant that BMW had a "M3 hero car" to sell there, althought the car looked like a standard 2dr E30. No boxed guards, but the good suspension and of course that stonking S14B20.

Only sold in LHD I don't see why someone in teh states hasn't started importing them yet.

Great sleeper......:)
1990 318is
Alpine White, M44 head, 3.91LSD and added fun:)

Hehe I know the car man, thats why I said "I could be wrong..."

A friend of mine in Queens used a 318is chassis and swapped out the m42 in favor of an s14 :)

Thanks for the reactions.

And yes it is the 320is with S14 engine!:D

Bought the car in January in Italy (Rome). Went to there by plane and then back with the car...1650km's and no problem's at all....just a hole lot of fun!

Options on the car:
-M-technik spoilerkit
-M-technik suspension (adjust by a rally shop in Italy)
-M-technik Steering wheel and gearshift
-Airco
-Leather sportseats
-ABS
-Servo
-rear windows that can open
-OBC 2
-Rearview mirror with reading lights
-...

I show you some pics when I went to Rome to look at the car:

And when the transaction was done: (Me on the left and the old owner right)

And a photoshoot with another 320is from a friend:

And some movies:
