Control arms arrived today  -  I guess the timing chain and sprockets are the next job.


I think this could be just different profile of tooth, or diferent height. If you look close enough you will see where metal is polished, and where machining pattern is left.
E30 318is M42
E36 318is M44

Thats a good point.  It does look like it is just the valley and not the peaks that are polished.  I am due for a oil change so will take a closer look in a couple of weeks.

I have an oil ooze from the lower timing case, so I was going to take a look at that end as well.
