Just wondering because i dont really understand why there arent any for it? or if there are, they are pretty hard to find. Also is it even possible to make on for the m42 because my work has a full machine shop so they could prolly do it.

its possible but the alt is barely enough as it as it is. there isn't really anything to under drive thats worth while, you don't want to to the water pump... just get them to fab up some nice alluminum pullies.

no probs. Personally i would look into converting to a serpentine belt with aluminum pulleys. wouldn't be that hard to do if you can make your own pulleys, you'd just need a tensioner, and the correct belt.

i was actually wondering this same thing. i know its possible to convert to serpentine belt from the e36 m42, but i couldnt find any lightweight pulleys for it. theres plenty of e36 pulleys, but im not sure if theyll work with the m42.. any thoughts?

you could always re-drill them. I will be making a set as soon as i find a spare m42 engine, so i will probably run a few sets off on the CNC machine so others can have this settup as well, and it can help fund my project.

Is the stock crank pulley liquid dampened? I know going from a dampened crank pulley to a non isn't a wise idea. Ive personally had to fix cars that came in with damaged cranks with the problem being traced back to the billet alum. un-dampened crank pulley. These were hi revving Honda 4 cylinders but its possible on any motor.
