I think something is wrong, please help...

OK, so I was trying to put my engine back together after the recent HG replacement.  I was at the point of putting the timing chain back on.  Now BMW has all of the sprokets keyed so eveything is pretty easy to put back on.  Well we slid the crank sproket on the crank, and I guess we did not have it seated correctly on the crank with key in the groove.  We did not notice, we proceed to add some tq to the pulley bolt so that we could roate the engine to TDC.

Long story short.  Everything got screwed up, I messed up the sprocket or something, and it would not come off.  We ended up having to use gear pullers to get them off, and now with a little effort they will not even go back on.

Is it possible I ovaled the crank or one of the sprockets?  I don't think so cause it is like a quarter inch of steal...

Please help me... :(

It sounds like you may have dislodged the key when putting the sprocket on. Was the key still in the groove when you took the sprocket back off. There may be a little bit of a ridge on the inside of the sprocket or key that could be removed with an emory cloth. Then try putting the sproket on without the key.
A picture would help also. I've never actually done this operation myself. Perhaps someone that has could clear it up.

That is a good idea....  I noticed when checking out RealOem that the key is actually a separate piece.  I will take some pictures shortly and then post them up.

OK, still no pictures, cause there is really nothing to see.

So I want to know is there anyone out there that has remove the crank sprocket before?  I measured the Hub, and the sprocket and the hub was about .500 off of round, and the sprocket was 0.49 off.  SO I replaced them both, and they slide on to the key, and then it get stuck so I am thinking that the key is changed.

One http://www.realoem.com it has a separate part number for the key, so has anyone removed it, or have an idea how to replace it assuming that mine was damaged.
