Just thought I would share my mistake with you guys so you too don't end up with a non-returnable part.

I admit it was my fault for not reading further down the page.  As you can see from a another thread I ordered a MOMO wheel and adapter from Pelican Parts.  Well I called today to inquire about a possible return,  (For some reason I can not get he old steering wheel off!).  I explained the wheel problem to the return dept at Pelican Parts ( she was very nice and polite, no bad customer service issue) but they were quick to tell me they couldn't take it back.

So guys, read the whole page.  Not all vendors can work with you on returns.

BTW, if anyone wants to buy it I have a brand new MOMO and adapter for sale :o

make sure you have your key in the ignition!

Key in and its a replaced air bag with M-Tech.  I am begining to wonder if it wasn't welded on!

There is a trick to take the wheel out...

You should try it before selling this beautiful wheel to anyone else...

Here is the tip:

1. Key in the ignition,
2. Take out the screw, horn airbag etc,
3. Catch the wheel with Your hands and repetedly pull strongly left/right left right hand. It will probably take a while, but this is the strongest known way of getting it off... The wheel mounting is made from the kind of the alluminium and the bolt inside is steel. It happens that it will weld by itself from time to time, but as this is cold weld, You should be able to pull it out using this method.

On the other hand, if this tip doesn't help, just unscrew the whole system from the car and go to the junkYard - find the  proper parts and just replace them!

Don't resell the MOMO wheel - it is really lovely ;)

The quick and dirty method of removal  is to remove the nut until it is just a bit higher than the threads. Pull out on the wheel as mentioned before and have a friend hit the nut with a hammer.
When all else fails use a steering wheel puller.
You only need the salvage yard column down to the nut between the clutch and brake pedals.

Brain fart #5.

Well there we were, all 5 of us. We had the puller, a huge screw driver, socket and mallet.

Decided to turn the key just one more time.  VIOLA! The d$$$ thing came off like warm buttah.  Apparently my ignition switch "sticks" just a little and kept the column lock from unlocking.  

Thanks to all you gear heads for the help.  Your trouble shooting put the finishing touches on a simple problem!

Yes it will fit your car.  My car is the same.  I will sell you the Momo and adapter I just got for what I paid for it plus I will include a 6 pack (upon proof of age).  The adapter and wheel are brand new, never mounted.  I have decided to stay with the M Tech 1 because I will be looking for M Tech pieces for the car as I can find them.

PM and I will give you all the info you need.

Let me know.  BTW, what if any, parts do you need?
