You should visit http://www.vems.hu - they offer the best sollution I know... And the price is very reasonable...

In US - try to search for AEM - this is ECU that often uses the stock wires...
the contact:
http://www.aempower.com
2205 126th street, Unit A
Hawthorne, CA 90250
(310) 484-2322
(310) 484-0152
And again not so expencive.

Haltech is designed to give power for race engines - so it won't work as good in the midrange,
http://www.haltech.com.au

Autronic is farly more expencive but it can take controll over whole car, abs and anything related to slippy tires...
http://www.autronic.com

VEMS is the project under the open license - Sweds made really good results using VEMS.
I recommend buying VEMS in Europe...

Did You check VEMS? It controlls ignition very well...

Check megasquirt or vems opinions on http://www.e30tech.com

Here are the links:
For VEMS:
http://www.e30tech.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=13941
And few here for MS too:
http://www.e30tech.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=49

The Vems or Megasquirt will cost You about 500$ so it is worth checking....
VEMS is a little better project, Megasquirt was installed more often.

6 months ago Megasquirt couldn't controll ignition - I don't know how the situation goes now. VEMS says that it can controll everything in every way... And it is mostly true ;)

IMO, as for the AEM, it has a good user interface and setup which has been refined over the years to warrant a little more on the cost.

If you like to tinker, I would get the MSII (latest version) w/ Ford EDIS setup and call it a day.

I actually just got the program in for a custom chip that I have been waiting on for some time, I'll probably put it in within the next week and let you know how it turns out if your interested in that.
