I am planing to peplace timing chain tensioner, my engine is now in 116.000 mile. Do I use tensioner for M42 or someone else.

The current part is the M44 part. It is a simple 10 minute job to change the tensioner. I just changed mine and found it had very recently been done. So if you want to save a few bucks I have one with very low miles on it.

Read up on the procedure first. It is quick and easy but there is some discussion about the method for releasing the tensioner spring- which is to rev the engine to 3000 (I think- something like that) to cause the chain to slap the tensioner open.

- However, that was the method I used at 137000 miles and everything is still OK at 147000 miles.

Mine released as I was tightening the cap down!

Yeah, it is more than easy to just pop the thing with your hand then put it in, that way the chain isn't slappy around all over the rails and tearing things up during that 15 seconds of 3500rpm havoc.

Is the tensioner you are selling the one that was installed or the one that you bought? How may km's on it and what are you selling it for?
