My car is burning!! :) It really is...
« on: March 21, 2007, 01:15:42 PM »
There's thick blue smoke coming out of the plastic thing (however you call it, it's right under the hood on the bad attached pic lol) under the driver's side wiper. It also comes out of the vents in the car if I turn the heater on. Anybody know what that could be?

If you want the whole story of how it started: About a week ago my car was stuck in snow, so we were pushing it out, giving it some gas, you know how it works... So as it's cold outside, we turned the heater in the car on and smoke started coming out. The car was full of smoke in about 5 minutes, thick blue smoke, and it smelled like plastic burning. And today the smoke starter coming out again, so I decided to check and discovered the plastic. Half of the thing is melted btw...

Does it happen if you turn the temp knob to cold or does it just happen when its cranked on hot?  If you aren't already, don't use the heat or blower unless you have to.

Well it started with the heater on hot and on 4. Today the heater and the blower were off but the smoke's coming out anyways a little even with the car turned off. The only way to get it away is by disconnecting the battery, which I did. So it was probably a short-circuit somewhere?

Your wiper linkage has slipped on you. There is a nut under the wiper motor that connects to the linkage. Loosen the wiper arms so the wiper motor can park and turn off. Then loosen the afore mentioned linkage nut and readjust the linkage.

You're right! Unfortunately I think the motor's cooked... I find it funny that the fuse is 30 A so it doesn't even care about my burning motor...
