white smoke from exhaust little bit of water at tip
« on: March 17, 2007, 04:56:02 PM »
Posted earlier about the coolant leak from the bypass modification. I fixed it today and ran the car a good 20 minutes came up to temp then 3/4 thermostat finally opened and it leveled off at little below halfway. It is smoking lightly at idle and heavy when reveed repeateadly. little pool of water at tailpipe after 20 minutes. It's not mixing in oil.(as far as i can tell how long does this take)
This is the first time car has been cranked in three years. Car was ran into ditch(hence no lower pan or pickup damaged upper pan) motor stopped towed home thats all the history  it was given to me. The smoke is white not very pungent. Do i have a stuck ring or head gasket? help runs great

thanks steve

Might just be condensation and water coming out of the system. Inconclusive at this stage!

drive it around for a little bit and see if it changes color or odor.  white smoke and condensation are good.. it tells you that your cat is working properly

i'm putting a tie rod on it now so i can drive it a little bit, maybe it needs to just
run a bit. It is a pretty good bit of white smoke after the car gets warm. After I drive i will inspect oil again for mixing.

drove it about ten miles white smoke no more this time, no overheating, no oil/water mixing
i epoxied the crap out of the cracked upper pan and it is barely leaking lol time for tag and insurance. Alignment is horrible but pretty stable at 60mph around a curve it gets a little tricky.:) :) :) :) :) :) :)

Ahh yeah - putting pics up isn't too hard. Simply click on the paperclip icon to attach them or host them using a free pic service like photobucket
