Awesome read, thanks very much for all the info and it's awesome to get someone who has more experience's input. I'm not into streetracing or even going fast at all on the street, but I do love speed, so I'm hoping for a place to have fun and just go allout and learn a ton in the process. For me I could never turn my e30 into a drag car because of how well it handles, I enjoy that too much in the e30 to get rid of it. From your post I'm thinking that I need to start in autox to get the basics, which makes sense, so hopefully this year I'll get to a few driving clinics through the cca and such  and start playin around.

You don't neccesarily have to start in auto-x. It's def. cheaper and easier to get into than HPDE's though. IF you're out west I'd suggest to check out the ProE30 racing series which is almost the same as Spec E30 IIRC. Go out on track days/HPDE sessions and try get a ride along. Take a helmet if you have one or borrow one if you can. Some clubs rent loaners as well.

Keep us updated :)

How many miles on the engine when it blew? I tracked my 200 000kms engine last year, twice, and hard, and it still ran perfectly. Now this one has 232 000kms, I know I need to be more careful with it but I'm not sure I'll be able to...:D

Atleast you got lots of miles out of that motor.
