New Rad, new fan clutch, 'stat, etc. Comp is very good so the head gasket should be okay. No traces of the wrong fluid anywhere. Occassionally, in traffic the car overheats. Any ideas? I guess it could be instrumentation (I've had that on my '02's) but you hate to rely on that kind of diagnosis...sorry, guess!

Did you bleed it correctly? Maybe the t-stat you used is not the good calibration for the temperature where you live. Do you still have the fan shroud? Espacially for the E30 M42, it's kind of essential since the fan is so far from the rad. Check your Coolant sensor.

In addition to the above, check your fan clutch to make sure it's working properly.

I know this thread is old but for information purposes..

My car was doing the same thing, turned out I had a bad fan switch and the auxiliary fan wasn't turning on to cool the car at idle.
