M42 Headgasket diy

Is there a full m42 e30 Headgasket diy I couldnt find one on line looks pretty straight forward just wanna see what I’m getting into

Btw my m42 laguna green 5 speed overheating badly tried removing the thermostat new water pump figuring might as well I could knock out this Headgasket in about a weekend with a good guide

For the most part it is what it looks like...disassemble and follow all good practices when reassembling. You 100% need to get the head machined before reassembly, and the top deck on the block needs to be clean. Abrasives and whatnot are not recommended for the block, and honestly I'd pull the block and have it machined as well. You probably do not need to disassemble it if the cylinders and various oil/coolant openings are blocked.

The head will need inspection as well since it is known to crack between exhaust valves if it has overheated. Hopefully it is just the HG in your case.

Cool 😎 does anyone know where I can find a decent priced cylinder head if it’s cracked ?

They are getting a little harder to find these days, but you can check in the For Sale section here, r3vlimited.com, and https://car-part.com/ (the last one does seem to have a few listed currently), and also note that you can search for 1991 to 1994 years since they are interchangeable).
