Hello  :)

First of all, I will get a DME in the next few days, I have found one  :)

Then I have got some infos from NGK, regarding the 48042 ignition coils. It's only a little information, but it's better than nothing. So, I think I have to test the dwell timing, but it should not be a big thing, something between 1.8 and 2.5ms should be ok.

What should we do next?
Regard,
Heinrich

It seems like the next step would be to get an oscilloscope capture of the signal from the cylinder identification sensor. From there, some decisions can be made about what type of sensor will be needed when the distributor is gone.

Visit HERE for a plethora of 318iS stuff and some other randomness.  Would you say I have a, plethora, of pinatas?

Sounds good!

As soon as I get home, I will measure the sensor with the oscilloscope. Since it is an inductive sensor, I think we can use a VR sensor from the M50 non-vanos. (M50 with vanos has a hall sensor). The M70 sensor is connected exactly like the sensor on the M42. So pins 16 and 44, pin 44 is grounded. I attached the schematic.
