Fuel System - Erratic Idle
« on: August 22, 2020, 05:28:55 PM »
Hi Everyone.  I own a 1993 318is since new.  And, I am experiencing idle problems.  The RPM Surges when in park after the car being hot or driven after 10 minutes, then the RPM drops to a normal idle.  If you put the Car in Park or Neutral the RPM goes up to about 1100 to 1200, then put the Car in Drive the RPM go back to a semi normal idle.

I have replace the ICV, TPS and Hoses, so now, I have a reach a point that I don't know what else to do, the O2 has 7900 miles on, was replaced last year around this time.  I have looked for vacuum leak but I can't find one..

Can someone help me, Please.

Leo

I have never owned or worked on an M42 with an automatic transmission, but your issues sound like they could be related to a wiring problem with the automatic transmission. Check that the wiring and switches for the selector are good. I assume that there is a separate transmission control module, so see if it has any water damage or anything.

Visit HERE for a plethora of 318iS stuff and some other randomness.  Would you say I have a, plethora, of pinatas?
