E30 m44 swap
« on: October 02, 2019, 03:31:46 PM »
Hey everyone new to the forum. Got few questions hope u guys could help. So I'm fitting m44 into my e30 this December. I bought a wrecked e36 318is for the swap and I have the solid flywheel from an m40 and the sump so that's sorted bt my question are what mounts do I use? Wil the manifold pass the steering column (RHD) and has anyone fitted itbs on m44 with stock ecu?
Thanks in advance

not sure about the mounts as i chassis mounted mine, my manifold did not pass the steering column but i had a z4 rack and column and you might be lucky, itbs with the stock ecu worked surprisingly well as long as you make an airbox so the maf works. there is pictures here that shows how i did it

the car idles and drives really well. when i put the engine back into a car i will put an afr meter on on it so i can set the fuel pressure regulator to make sure it is right

What all did u have to do to get the itbs to work with the stock ecu? Because I've seen on a few forums guys changing there for and bigger injectors did u have to do this? And what cams u running? I spotted in one of ur YouTube vids u revin out to at bout 8000rpm that's insane

I have the m44 which is unmodified apart from the itbs and the m42 which has had lots done to it. with the m44 i used the m3 injectors that came with the itbs and fitted a fuel pressure regulator but it is set about where the m3 regulator would have been apart from that i made an airbox for the maf sensor to work from and it ran really well.
