Snow Drift Spin's Slicktop
« on: September 14, 2016, 01:34:57 PM »
I recently picked up a 1991 318is slicktop for $500.  Its my first E30, or BMW actually, but I'm looking forward to learning about the little car!  Its a blast to drive and the M42 is a satisfying motor to rev.

So far I've installed a new radiator and thermostat and put in proper BMW coolant.  The car came with an extra dash that had no cracks so I managed to get that installed as well.  There are a few issues with the car still though:
-Odometer stopped working at 210,000 miles...
-Power windows do nothing
- Seems to leak engine oil and power steering fluid
- AC is weak
- brakes are not strong
- Front suspension is washed out, but there were some Bilsteins in the trunk so I can put those on I suppose

Its pretty awesome to have a forum just for your engine, so I look forward to learning form everybody!   ;)

Welcome

Odometer will be the internal gears!
Brakes can be made strong by installing the much bigger master cylinder 25mm piston from memory!

Hope this helps
