I built this setup for my 2002 using GSXR750 throttlebodies. It really was not that difficult. I got rid of the '02 project and never used them

I'd have to start again from scratch. Only the TB's themselves would work on an M42, the manifold would need to be completely different.

Maybe someday I'll make another setup...

Update:
I've made contact with a company thats produces stand alone ecu's (http://kms.vankronenburg.nl/), they offered to help me out setting up all the maps, these guys have years of experiance with racecars and can help me all the way.
I got his adress of a respectable BMW tunner in Holland, who told me that using these TB is no problem, as long as I use a pragrammable ecu. This will delay my anual trip to "the ring", but I dont mind, the car will be cool! If all fails I guess it will look cool in my office.....I know this road is very long and difficult but ill try to make updates and share all the info I come across.

so why do people usually use the gsxr's? what about itb's off a r6 or r1?
