Could do that, but that would involve a whole lot of sourcing and making parts. I like the idea of sticking to BMW parts, and m parts are welcome in my engine bay. But that is just my personal opinion.

IIRC there is a m42er that is using the s14 TB's but they had to make an adaper plate.  But I could be wrong ;)  I second the motorcycle ITB's though.

Ok thats 2, why would you guys preffer that setup? You will be searching for needles, float bowls levels and jets etc, no more injectors so what about ign timing? Disconnecting the wireloom....... plus you need to make adapters as well? I base this on the carbs I use on my bikes, but maybe I missing something and there is an ellement Im missing?

Not carburators, Fuel injection throttle bodies from bikes such as the Hayabusa or zx12r. These throttle bodies are 4 indavidual throttle bodies that can be seperated and made to fit any engine. The E30 m3 engine is to wide and the bore spacing is of my 9mm per cyl. The bore spacing of the M42 is 91mm and not 100mm like the M10,S14,M30,M88,S38

It is very common for Honda tuners to use Motocycle Throttle bodies.

Using the motorbike fuel rail, injector bosses and maybe even the injectors,
S14 throttle bodies aint going to fit without modifications,
the motorbike ones could be made to fit on the lower intake section of the M42 intake system

I'm currently in the process of modifying an M10 motor(for my tii) w/ motorcycle tb's. If you plan on going custom efi, you don't have to worry about swapping in a compatible TPS. As for the injectors, a lot of modern sports bikes actually have better injectors with multiple jets for better atomization.

I know the Honda 900 injectors were rated around 240cc/min which is more than enough for any NA application below 180hp. Just take note on which ones you have and adapt accordingly(peak/hold or  saturated)

I've seen pictures of this setup too, can you remember where or on which forums the pics were? I bought it anyway, if it absolutely wont fit ill sell it again, never lose money on M parts anyway. I have the tools(friend) to make an cast alu adapter so im willing to give it a go.

There's really no thread to start at this point since the project is in it's beginning stages. But if you would like to see some pics of my ITB mated to my M10, then I suppose I can take some pics.

How much electronic hassle would be involved using TB of either a motorbike or m3? Is it just remapping the blackbox and using a different MAF? Or do you change to a fully custom wireharnass?

It's a lot harder than that. Assuming you have a standalone ecu, you'll have to ditch the MAF and go with either tuning off Map values or the Alpha values off the TPS position. IMO, unless this is a track car or you have lots of time and patience to tune a map across all various part throttle driving conditions/loads, the returns are simply not worth the hassle.

i saw s14 throttles fitted to an m42 once. they had to make an adapter plate and also had to cut a chunk out of the plenum to clear the brake booster.

good luck if you go through with it.
