How do I prime the oil pump?

Just putting the timing case back on & wondering about the oil pump prime, since it will be dry. Is pump priming automatic if I add oil via the filter housing?

I remember somebody posting on this very subject.
Many times priming can be accomplished by packing the pump with grease.
