Horrible Bogging/idle issue
« on: March 24, 2015, 01:36:33 PM »
i have a 91 318is and it has had idling/running issues since i got it. I have put new spark plugs, wires, fuel pressure regulator, and O2 sensor. Then last week i did the "mess under the intake" vacuum hose delete and ive checked over my work a few time and have got it right. Now my car still has a rough idle and it bogs when i try to accelerate. I had the code run and it shot an O2 sensor code, which i have already replaced. My mechanic friend said its either a faulty O2 sensor, the fuel injectors, or an intake leak. I did remove the injectors in order to paint the manifold but they were all put back in correctly and plugged in.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Exactly.... Mine would fall on it's face with slight pedal pressure. But when I went WOT it would accelerate. But rpm would be restricted like a clogged cat. Check all the hoses for possible vacuum leaks. Get a couple of cans of carb cleaner, thoroughly clean the ICV (Idle Control Valve). Soak it, let it set for 15 minutes or so and then do it again until you go through both cans. Make sure it is dry before putting it back on. I used compressed air to bow it out. Also give it a good tap with the handle of a hammer. Mine was a wooden ball peen. I also put clamps on all the hoses, couple had clearance probs so I used double wire ties. Hope this helps.
