Large single freeze plug?

Hey guys, I'm new to the m42 so I'm going to have lots of questions as I work my way through my current swap!

I got freeze plugs for this block and realized that there is one larger hole by the 1st cylinder on the driver's side. I can't find any info on this one. Everything lists the plugs as being 36mm but this one obviously isn't and can't figure out what size/part number is.

Are you sure the bigger hole isn't where the plastic coolant pipe goes?

I really hope it's something that simple. It's been so long since I tore the engine down, it's hard to remember what was there, although I could have sworn I pulled a freeze plug.

I'll go look through parts and see if I can find a pipe that fits it. Thanks for that suggestion.

Maybe this will help.  The only reason I thought of it was when I got my block back from the machine shop they had put a freeze plug in the hole where the coolant pipe goes.

If it's the original pipe I would highly suggest you buying an OEM replacement instead of putting the old one back on...
They are dreadfully brittle with the number of years that on our our cars and they aren't that expensive?!
