Hello to all, my name is Matteo and I am from Republic of San Marino.
I have a 318is E30 rally car built this year with:
Extremetech suspension, close ratio steering, differential LSD 4.44, ZF close ratio gearbox.
Now I bought an M47 crankshaft for a good engine build up.
Thank for all advice!!!

Welcome to the club
There are about 4 different m47 crankshafts.
Which one have you got?
4.44 that's really low, you 2 must have a tall 5 th gear?
Ok zf gearbox may be 6th gear.
Cheers Rohan

Tha crankshaft I have is like this: http://www.m42club.com/forum/index.php?topic=7765.0

ZF gearbox is 5 gears + reverse. Ratio is 2,7 - 1,76 - 1,39 - 1,175 - 1. With 4.44 diff is funny!!!

Ciao Pelly,

The close ratio box, did you change the gears from a different model/car or are they custom made?
How's the top-speed with a 4.44 diff? I have a 4.45 open diff mounted in my race car (but haven't tested it)

previously i had a 3,15 open diff... but with that diff i never got out 3rd gear @ Castrezzato (autodromo franciacorta)
950kg E36 from 3/94 ex M42B18, now with Saab B204l turbo power.

Ciao!
Gears are some from other zf gearbox, some are custom made.
A friend of mine is a genius and studied about these gearboxes: http://www.gr-box.sm/
Top speed is about 170/180 km/h with 5th gear.

Hi
With that ratio you would have been near 7000 rpm roughly?
Cheers Rohan

Hey Rohan, if i remember correctly it was around 6200. I am not running 15's instead 17's so that would be about a 7% change in ratio.
