i saw a post about the tapping of the gas pedel and decided to try it. i got 1215. is this why i am losing all of my MPG? how do i fix this. i get it's going to be expensive:(

any info will help!

i decided to tap the gas pedal 5 times and that code popped up. searched google and it said AFM.

My response from bimmerforums:

clean the connections with electrical cleaner spray, clean out your TPS and also try cleaning out the ICV...all three of those are tied in together.

clean the sensor on the AFM as well

Did you try any of that?

any info will help!

How does your car run??
How does it idle??
Does it hesitate??
Does it start hard ??
How many miles on the car ?
Could be a vacuum leak or idle control valve or throttle position switch.:confused:
Give us more info

My car does not have a check engine light. I do not know if this is an Australian thing but most of our cars were built in europe to Euro spec (plus Aussie crap).

If a put a new globe in the hole in the dash for the light will it work then?
When I pulled the instrument cluster a while ago I cannot recall seeing any circuits going to that part of the cluster.

I would be good to know these codes if all it takes is placing a globe in the socket.

No not yet. my car is currently in the body shop for some repairs.

Be VERY careful if you decide to clean the sensors in the AFM, those are very sensitive and very fragile parts. Check if the "Barn door" opens freely. Test the potentiometer, maybe it's not telling the computer the correct position of the door.

It is only on US models that you can do the "pedal stomp" to read out errors.
Have tried on several models....

europe model have the same, but you have to make connection to your ecu.
