TwEeKeDXXII's 1995 Hellrot 318iS
« on: September 26, 2014, 08:45:44 AM »
Well, this is my first post so, Hello All.

I'm mostly the same as all of you, a BMW enthusiast. In my collection are numerous BMW cadavers lol and a couple specimens that still run. Some that run really well and some that need some love.

Piece in point - My newly acquired 1995 318iS.

I have already started tinkering with the ol girl. Started cleaning up the typical Olb beamer smells ( I swear they all smell the  same from this era ).

On the list of upgrades in the mail are:

UUC's Sport Cup Kit springs/strut combo.
fleabay special front end repair kit - tie rods, control arms, bushings etc.
amr 500 SC
rising rate fuel reg
IC
M3 repo front bumper skin
Hakka 7's for zee winter fun to ensue ( frozen lakes = fun )

Anywho, I'll try and keep this updated. It will more or less just be a journal of what I've done to this ol gal, as to not forget her roots.

So sit back and watch the sparks fly
:o 8) :P :) ;) :D

Welcome to the forum. I know what you mean about the old BMW smell. My wife mentions it almost every time she gets in.

Welcome to the Club!

I just picked up a 1999 and it has the same smell as the two e30's I own... It must be in the padding, foam or carpets?

Results of my tinkering... 180k miles on her. Replaced cowl cover, air pump, air valve, engine cover gasket, oil filter housing gasket, spark plugs & oil/filter. I officially proclaim the m42 engine way easier to work on than the m52.
90mins swapping out parts, 60+mins cleaning.

RRFR - Installed

Stock air box - Modded

A.C. - Deleted upto condenser

Only had basically 24 hours off, so not a lot of time to tinker.

Next will be mounting AMR 500 SC where the A.C. compressor used to sit.
