Innovate LC1 Wideband install?
« on: September 23, 2014, 11:51:41 PM »
Hello folks,
I just purchased an Innovate LC1 Wideband second hand. Wondering if anybody out there has installed on in an e36 m42? I want to replace the oe 02 sensor with the wideband and use its narrowband output to send to the DME. I read that I need to modify a relay so the dme wont cut power to the wideband under full throttle? Any imput orhelp would be great!!! Thanks in advance!!! .... Skid

Hi skid
I did this recently, I powered mine up on acceseries as it needs to warm up before getting hit by exhaust fumes. Also stock location is not the best needs to be further away from merge. But mine was e30 too so your May be different. Then hook up the sensor out put to the dme.
Cheers Rohan

From what I have seen, I think that a kit from 14point7.com is a good option. They are reasonably priced, and the owner has posted some interesting tear-downs of competing products (including the LC-1) to compare them to his own stuff, and his stuff appears to be well designed. The Spartan Lambda controllers are the simplest option, but I am not 100% sure that the narrow band simulation voltage levels will be compatible with the Motronic ECU. You could go with the SLC-PP2 unit, which is a bit overkill, but it has programmable output voltages so you can make sure that they are in the 100-900mV range. I have asked the owner about the voltage levels on the Spartan NB output and am waiting for a response.

OK, got confirmation from 14point7 that the NB simulated output has a max output voltage of ~900mV. So, the Spartan lambda controller module should work fine with the Motronic and it looks like a superior product to the LC-1.
