valve train replacement q's
« on: July 23, 2014, 11:27:27 PM »
Finally, after a few years of putting it off and sourcing parts, I'm planning to replace the chain guides, gears, etc in my e30 and include the M44 gear case mod following Mikede's posts.  One thing different for me though is, all the writeups I found back when I started planning this, were done with the head in place.  I am also pulling the head to fix a coolant leak so I would like to do both jobs together with the engine in the car.  It seems to make more sense to me to pull the head first, then replace all the guides, case, chain, etc while the head is off, and then reinstall the repaired head.  Does that make more sense than doing both jobs independently and separately?  Anyone know of any writeups that cover both together?
