As I understand there are two different types of fluid for two different types of trannies. If you crawl under the car, on the side of the tranny will be a red or green tag. Red gets dextron, green gets gear oil. I looked it up on the computer at Autozone. That could be wrong. I'd wait for any other replies and see what anybody else has to say about that.:confused:

my tranny said ATF. went and got some redline MTF and i was good to go. the other stuff that came out was nasty. i am going to redrain it after 2 weeks and put MTF back in again. kinda like a flush.

redrainign it after 2 weeks wont do anything. your better orr just leaving the fluid in that you have now. less money for the fact that it will do nothing for your tranny.

You're right about the tags on the diff.
However, a few years ago when talking with Mike Miller, he mentioned Redline MTF if you don't pound your gears when the tranny is cold. If you get into it while the tranny is cold go with ATF. However, the MTF is better in the long run. I had MTF in my tranny for a while, then drained it out and filled it with Amsoil ATF. The tranny feels great, but no big difference as far as I can tell. I may go to the Amsoil MTF later.

i put redline MTF in it. took a bottle and a half. next project is my thermostat. it's stuck open.

Don't bother with Amsoil MTF. I've had Amsoil Synthetic ATF in my past 2 cars after trying several other formulations.

Redline mt-90 here. My tranny has the orange sticker.I cooked my tranny fluid last time I was at the track and could barely shift the car 2 days after. I went with Redline 75W90 gear oil first and it wasn't too good to the feel and I hear its rough on the syncros. I have since changed it for MT-90 and the car is much happier.

The Amsoil ATF which is in there now seems to do the job, but I just want to see what's better out there.
I'll try the MT-90 as e9nine has mentioned to see how that fluid works out.

Remember e9nine lives in Georgia in warmer climates. I'm not sure how cold it gets where you live but that is definitely a consideration.

Which Amsoil do you use in the rear diff?

I'm just using Mobil1 75w90 gear oil for my rear diff.

Basically, I'm too lazy to order any fluids and use what they carry in stores. Suprisingly Murray's Auto Parts carries Amsoil tranny fluid(they also carry Royal Purple which is also surprising).
