Any One know anything about these headers? German made instead of cheap chinese super sprint knock offs.

They look good but what are the pipe sizing? Are they just lhd or lhd and rhd? E36, e30?
Lots of questions, but no info on there site. Email them and keep us informed.

i just sent them an email, But from the looks of it i think they are lhd. Also it does say m42/m44 so it is definitely E36. Not sure about E30.

Those actually look pretty nice. They look like Supersprint knockoffs, but maybe higher quality than the "ebay" versions.

It looks exactly like a chinese one I bought on eBay Germany a while ago. Even the parts (gasket and clamp with bolts) added to mine look identical to the ones in the link.
Who is the manufacturer in Germany? The price makes me believe that it is the same chinese copy of a Supersprint or Tezet Start Up header which is not that bad as everybody says.

It looks The same because they are both Super sprint knock offs. How ever this one looks to be of higher quality and is Supposedly "German" made. That being said Chinese metallurgy/over all craftmanship has come a long ways recently (but still has a long way to go) and I almost bought one of the Ebay ones but the question to me is, is this "German" one worth the extra $120? The welds seem to be tighter and of better quality but it is hard to tell with the pictures on the site.

The stock headers are very well made. Why would you want another header?

Hey esprit, As you know headers can make a huge difference on most other applications But as you said The m42 is Very well made and high flowing to begin with. That being Said Supersprint does *CLAIM* 15hp Increase with there header ( i dont belive it ) and every one i have talked to says there isn't much to be gained with after market headers especially on a stock/ near stock m42. I am only interested albeit not right now but later down the road because i am doing a high Hp N/A Build and will be looking to squeeze all the power i can with my goal being around 250. But 1400 bucks or what ever the s/s is alot to shell out on a supposed 15 hp gain. i was hoping to hear some peoples experiences with the knock off ones/ or real ones and if they noticed any gain (butt dyno) or had any real numbers to share.

I agree good headers can make a difference. It seems that to gain 15 HP on a 1.8 you would have to go from a cast iron, poorly designed manifold to a proven set of headers.

Back when the M42 was designed with a well engineered ss header for that era, most cars were sporting cast, log style manifolds. This makes me wonder if BMW had a stillborn idea of a certain class of racing with that engine. Does anyone out there know of any programs they may have had back then?

The factory header that was on our car has one small welded bung/ threaded plug for each downpipe a couple inches from the head. It would make a great place to monitor EGT's for each cylinder. I am wondering if anyone else's header has these ports. Let us know!

There must be some dyno time with stock versus aftermarket headers here somewhere but I couldn't find it.

Those bungs you see on the stock header are for sampling CO.  The S14 engine has them, too.

The 318iS did race in Group A and Group N (I believe).

The same story is always repeated that the stock headers can't really be improved on, but I have never seen one dyno plot to prove or disprove this "internet fact."  It would be very interesting to see some data to put this to rest.  That said, the stock header is pretty nice, but maybe it can be improved upon.

Stock lhd header is very good rhd not good at all, cylinder 2,3 would argue badly.
