Retro fitting E36 Fog Lights

Hey all,

So I've recently purchased the retro fit kit from Schmiedmann and was about to install it today when I ran in to a problem. I've had this same problem when I was fixing my LED tail lights last year. I have snapped the plug off the wire

The plug I am referring to is #4 on the diagram. Is there some special way that you are supposed to install these? Every time I get about half way in, it either won't go any further, the wire bends, or I get what happened to me today and it snaps off.

Help please!
