e30 m42 to e36 m3 motor mount swap - possible?
« on: January 15, 2014, 09:43:44 PM »
I'd read that it was, if the locating tabs were shaved.  So I swapped out my leaking 200k oem mounts for them as well as e21 trans mounts.  The motor mounts went in, but raised the engine some from where it had been sitting.

There is a vibration at idle in neutral (no idling wander/issues, it's steady) that I can't decide what to blame on.

Did it raise it because the old mounts were worn and saggy or is the M3 mount taller then a fresh M42 mount??

good question that I cannot answer, as I don't have a fresh stock mount to compare to.

What I can say is that for whatever reason, the vibration was gone today.  Completely gone.  I'd recently gotten gas, and also tightened up the banjo bolts on the PS pump.  Did rack swap at the same time as the motor mounts.
