91 318is with M42 - needs new clutch
« on: January 06, 2014, 09:41:14 PM »
I've searched a bit on the site, but haven't quite found what I need.
Just want some recommendations in replacing the clutch with something other than the stock OEM clutch.   Or if the stock clutch is OK, then will stay with that.
Any suggestions and where to purchase would be appreciated.

My vote goes for a late-model M20 clutch with a lightened single mass flywheel. You could also install the smaller M42 non-AC single-mass flywheel & clutch.

I also think that a late model M20 clutch/flywheel setup is a fun idea. Even a stock M20 flywheel makes a difference, and a lightened one is really fun. Just make sure that it is from a 1989 or later M20B25, not the M20B27.
