Hi there,
« on: January 04, 2007, 11:02:04 PM »
Hi my name is Tim; I live in Seattle, and I'm obsessed with e30's.
My daily driver right now is an 03 GTi I ordered new. Its fast and looks good lowered and all but it's a gas guzzling beast "vr6" that handles like all FWD cars.  Recently I bought an 87 325e that I use as my Portland car and have fallen in love with it. It needs suspension parts, driveshaft parts, entire exhaust, and maybe a differential but I can't help loving that car. Or should I say e30's in general.
I am seriously considering selling the GTi and trying to find a real solid 318is to use as my everday car. I live in the city and never get to use the 200 hp vr6 in traffic anyway. Plus the m42 gets great gas milage and rear wheel drive is so much more fun to drive, styling is awesome....I could go on and on.
Working on cars is fun for me usually although it  makes me swear alot, and I'm no mechanic so getting a good one that isn't a basket case is important. But if things do get out of hand there seems to be alot of good BMW shops in town. Anyhow hi all.... thanks for listening.:)

The VR6 is not that awesome. With a stock 325i I keep up with my friend's chiped VR6 Golf. It does have an awesome sound though. Good luck with finding a 318is...you won't regret it.

Thanks everybody. Yeah the vr6 is not all it's cracked up to be for sure but  the exhaust sounds great. M42boy's car looks great but I'm looking for one closer to stock. This might bite me in the ass though as it looks like his car has been gone through and needs nothing but a driver. And it has the black vinyl interior that I like. Is it me or do most 318's come with tan interior?

I have seen one sittng in a lot here in Orlando for 6 mos, with tan interior.  He wants 4500.  No way!

M42boy's car is IN MY OPINION a very clean ride.  I bought mine for 2200 and put more than I care to mention into it.  For what I would and will do to my car his asking price would have been a no brainer for me.

Good luck and have fun!

Welcome to the club!  I sincerely hope that you find an M42'd 318i because I know that you won't regret it.  These things rev all day long and won't spit it back in your face.

By the way, I LOVE Portland and Oregon for that matter.  My grandparents used to live in Seaside so I have spent many fun days in Oregon.
