Cylinder Head - Cam Shaft Re-assembly - Newbie Question
« on: September 02, 2013, 12:09:41 AM »
Just put back my camshafts and I wanted to make sure I reassembled it correctly on the cylinder head. Would you guys mind taking a look to see if i need to make any corrections or if everything is okay. Thanks!!

How did you install the cams into the bearing journals? They look dry. You definitely want to lube the journals in the head and bearing caps with some heavy assembly grease before installing the cams. That will ensure that the cam is axially centered in the journals.

Looks good otherwise.

I guess I wasn't liberal enough with the lube, but I definitely used some in the assembly process. I took it apart again last night and heavily lubed the shaft, journals, and lobes this morning.

Thanks for stepping in!! Please keep an eye out on my posts, I will have more of these type of questions in the next few weeks.m ;D
