Trunk Internal Accessories

Greetings,

I came across a pretty rare piece of E30 awesomeness yesterday and the price was so silly, that I couldn't pass it by.  The part number for the actual black holder that sits on top of the battery tray in the right rear trunk area is NLA as far as I know.  Likewise, searching the actual part number does not come up in any lists to even show that it is NLA.  Anyhow, the reason why I am posting this thread is for those of you who may be interested in seeking out these parts to complete your trunk area, as well as have something with you in the event that your in an accident.  Safety first, right? Right.  Though, I do have a question for those of you who are more familiar with this kit.  Aside from the warning triangle and safety kit, there are two other compartmentalized areas that obviously hold some other things.  Being that I cannot search the part number for the actual holder, I have no idea what goes in the remaining two bins.  Any ideas?  The smaller one looks like it may fit a quart of oil... The odd shaped one, I really have no idea- maybe beers? 

Anyhow, I took all of these photos with my iPhone so they may not be super clear.  The holding case has a hole in the center of it that coincides with some of the battery tray holders in E30's.  Some have a matching hole, some don't.  The warning triangle has a part number on the blue cover, but there is no part number on the actual triangle.  The triangle is made by GEBRA.  Also, not pictured is the warning/safety vest which is neon green with a horizontal reflective strip around the torso.  The safety kit does not have a part number anywhere on the exterior or interior of the box.  The only part number I could find for this was printed within the rear leaflet of the safety kit booklet.  Other than that, happy searching and enjoy!

that cool. never knew that storage thing held specific items. thats where i keep stray bmw just encases lol. belts/relays/bolts. cool. hope to learn what else goes in it. the "p" looking spot. im gonna guess its a awesome bmw spotlight. 0.0 and the small square spot is for... something.. something very square. haha.

Thanks for sharing - those are some rare E30 items indeed.  Every time I stumble across unusual stuff, the price is very high.

A few posts down I started a thread regarding the storage tray. I got move traffic on this on another e30 forum. If you have these items, you are lucky. Regarding the storage tray, the PN is not longer in database so even worse than NLA. The hole is used to lock it in place but the new battery trays do not have the hole. I know, as I bought one recently. You can follow the work on my profile project thread. Nice find with the other items. On my build, it came with tray and triangle.

Within one of the blow-up parts schematics on realoem under the E30 European version, there is a PN for a small zip open black bag that holds a quart of oil in it (with the container of course).  This looks like it would fit in the small square slot.  I can't remember where online I read it, but someone also suggested that the small remaining compartment is for the wheel chuck, but to me this doesn't make sense either and would seem like wasted space.  For the "P" looking slot, like turbo dude suggested, it may fit the larger flash light (taschenlampe)....buuuuut I don't see this being a snug fit like the warning triangle and the safety kit.  My only other thought would be the Mobility Kit (which I have as well), but this also comes with its own zip-up black bag that matches the oil container bag thus making a rectangle shape when zipped closed.  When I get back home this weekend, I'll surely try this out (and some other things) to see what fits.

FYI: Here in Germany most of this stuff is dirt cheap.  You can buy a brand new OEM E30 safety kit for about 10-15 euro.  I picked up an additional warning triangle for 2 euro and the actual storage container...these pop up on eBay.de occasionally.  One sold the other day for 12 euro.  The only problem you will encounter are direct translations of key words when searching.  Some sellers list part numbers; most don't.  I came across most of my stuff by seeing something interesting that I wasn't going to buy and clicking on the sellers "additional items" to find things I originally wasn't searching for.  Those silly Germans and their long, complicated words...

In my storage tray in the P slot, I have my wheel center cover wrench. It is not a perfect but moves with the curve nicely. I will try to take a picture when I get back from vacation. Also, the wheel chuck for my car is bigger, the same from an e23, e24 and e28. It might fit in the P shape space also, Right not it is wedged under the tire jack on the driver side. Also, I believe this part is not under the e30 ETK, so not sure if it belongs with my car.

if this tray is common in germany, i'd pay to get one shipped here.  I usually keep a little bin and tool bag in my trunk, that sits on the battery cover, but i'd love something looking more stock
