Building up N/A m42
« on: July 23, 2013, 02:01:38 PM »
Hey there, new to m42. I want to build up my 1991 e30 m42. So far I want to do dual spring titanium valve springs with forged+ coated valves(oversized), a port n polish to the head. What kind of gains can I expect? Should I get a thin mls head gasket to up the compression. Invest in some cams soon? What brand?

I would probably stick with stock compression. If you get a thinner gasket you may have piston to valve interference with big cams made for "stock" motors.

Cams are a fantastic upgrade. The VAC/Catcams cams seem to have good results. I would also see if Paul Burke can make you a set as well.

The key with upgrading the cams and making power is a retune. I would solve how you plan to do this first.
